Halifast Athletes Strike Gold at NSSAF Provincials
The NSSAF provincials provided Halifast athletes a place to show off their talents this past weekend at their home track of Beazley Fields. 11 Halifast athletes were able reach the podium amongst the province’s best athletes, bringing a total of 20 medals home between them! The medal tally includes 11 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze; but an even more impressive feat accomplished was done by Maggie Smith who set two new NSSAF provincial records in Intermediate Girls 1500m, and 3000m.
Maggie, who represented Sacred Heart, set the new record of 4:38.84 in the 1500m, breaking the previous record of 4:45.49, as well as the new record of 10:00.54 in the 3000m, shattering the previous record of 10:20.17. Both former records were set in 2009 by Sadie Petrie. Maggie also won a gold medal in the 800m, running a time of 2:14.37.

Raheem Elliott – Gold (Triple Jump)
Tajhon Thomas – Silver (Relay)
Tamia Thomas – Gold (Triple Jump), Silver (Long Jump)
